This module will allow people to learn or review the fundamentals of mindfulness. We will be focusing on the practice of the body scan, breath meditation and loving-kindness. We will also discuss different meditation postures and how to set up a practice at home and within daily life.
Module 2: Deepening our Mindfulness Beyond the Body and Breath:
6 weeks Wednesday, Feb 10, 17, 24, Mar 3, 10 17. Cost: Non-Members: $100
In the Sutra on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness, the Buddha teaches us how to practice Mindfulness of the Breath and the Body but he also encourages us to expand our mindfulness further. He mentions that we should notice how at times in our lives we may feel generally pleasant, unpleasant or neutral and how at other times we experience more specific emotional states such as love, anger, confusion, peace etc. All of these feelings and mental states are meant to be included in our practice for a deep healing to take place.
Sign up for each module separately as a non-member or take both modules together for $125 and also receive access to all our other classes for 10 weeks!
You may also become a member of FOH for $500/yr. This will give you access to ALL classes at FOH and you will be able to attend our retreats at Members prices.
View short videos part 1 and part 2 of FOH founder Lama Catherine Jetsun Yeshe where she discusses the history and philosophy of FOH a well as the first Noble Truth: equanimity. She discusses Tibetan Chenrezig compassion meditation here.

The Open House is a good opportunity to have tea, browse the library, ask questions of students and teachers, and enjoy a short meditation. The first hour will be a social gathering of our sangha and any interested newcomers, followed by a short meditation and discussion. Please bring your friends!
We celebrate a new book "Clear Heart, Open Mind" by Catherine Jetsun Yeshe, founder of FOH.
Many people have become interested in Tibetan Buddhist meditation but are unsure how to blend their Western viewpoint with Eastern thought. Clear Heart, Open Mind speaks to the joys and challenges of this journey. The book offers clear and practical advice on how to work with the meditation practice of compassion. The author reveals how its force, once activated, can open our world to a place of joy and freedom. When we realize the deep interconnectedness of life, many of our perceived problems disappear.
Please help support FOH. We are most grateful for donations that help us provide a special place of refuge in the heart of Toronto. Donations support our space, dedicated teachers and our bursary fund. Donations may be made on line.
Volunteers needed! If you have a few hours to spare to help out with the open houses, or to keep FOH running smoothly day to day, please email FOH! A great way to support others and build merit.
